📘 ST. JAMES SCHOOL – RULES & REGULATIONS

All students must strictly observe the Rules and Regulations of the School at all times.

A. SCHOOL UNIFORM

  • Prescribed Uniform

    • Sky Blue Shirt

    • Dark Blue Trouser (Boys)

    • Dark Blue Pleated Skirt (Girls – knee length)

    • Black School Shoes (well polished)

    • School Belt, Tie, Sweater, Pull-over, Muffler, Socks (to be purchased from school)

    • School T-Shirt (to be worn on Wednesdays, Fridays & Activity Days)

  • Uniform must be neat, clean and complete at all times. Shirts must be tucked in and ties properly worn.

  • Tight-fitting, narrow-bottom or extreme bell-bottom pants are prohibited.

  • No ornaments or cosmetics are allowed. This includes rings, necklaces, earrings, bangles, wristbands, nose studs, lipsticks, nail polish, perfumes, etc.

  • Hairstyles must be simple and neat:

    • Nursery–VIII: Two braids (girls)

    • IX–X: One braid

    • XI–XII: Ponytail

    • Boys: Short, well-groomed hair (no trendy, shaved, or spikey styles)

    • Hair colouring, gel, bleaching prohibited.

  • Tattoos and body piercings are strictly prohibited.

  • Bags must be clean and free from scribbling.

B. ADMISSION

  • Admission is granted at the discretion of the School Authority.
  • Admission implies full acceptance of School Rules.
  • Preference is given to:
    1. Boarders
    2. Siblings of existing students
    3. Old pupils (renewals within stipulated time)
  • Admission may require Test/Interview.
  • Admission fees and school fees are non-refundable.
  • Boarders cannot convert to Day Scholars mid-session.
  • Admission to Classes X & XII does not guarantee regular candidature for Board Examinations.

C. ATTENDANCE

  • Students must be regular and punctual.

  • Leave requires prior permission from the Principal through the Class Teacher.

  • Class VI–XII: Unauthorized absence – ₹100 per day fine.

  • Absence for more than one week without permission may result in expulsion.

D. TIFFIN

  • Students must bring their own tiffin.
  • Meat items are not allowed.
  • Outside eatables are prohibited (except birthdays).
  • Students may purchase from the school cafeteria during break.

E. FEES

  • All fees paid are non-refundable.

  • Tuition fees must be paid for all 12 months (April–March).

  • No deduction for vacation or absence.

  • Result will be withheld if dues remain unpaid.

  • Students admitted mid-term must pay full monthly fees for that term.

F. DISCIPLINARY RULES

  • Leaving school premises without permission (Truancy):

    • 1st Offence: ₹300 fine

    • 2nd Offence: ₹500 + Suspension

    • Repeated: Expulsion

  • English must be spoken within school premises.

  • Strictly Prohibited:

    • Tobacco (Tiranga, Zarda, Supari, etc.)

    • Smoking (₹300 first fine; ₹500 second + suspension)

    • Liquor or Drugs (Immediate suspension/expulsion)

    • Mobile phones & electronic gadgets (₹300 first fine; ₹500 second)

    • Vehicles on campus

    • Sharp objects (knife, blade, etc.)

    • Obscene materials

    • Playing cards

    • Correction pens & markers

    • Excess money (other than fees/bus fare)

  • Fighting, bullying, ragging, teasing, or romantic misconduct may lead to counseling, suspension, or expulsion.

  • Cheating, forging signatures, altering marks → dismissal without warning.

  • Damaging school property → fine and replacement cost.

  • Students must:

    • Maintain short, clean nails

    • Be polite, honest, disciplined

    • Complete homework & assignments

    • Maintain classroom cleanliness

  • Expulsion due to misconduct will be recorded in the Transfer Certificate as:

    • “Violation of School Rules & Regulations”

    • or “Misbehaviour and Indiscipline”

G. CURRICULUM & EXAMINATION

The school follows curriculum prescribed by:

  • Mizoram Board of School Education (Secondary & Higher Secondary)

  • SCERT Mizoram (Elementary Section)

  1. Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is implemented.

  2. Promotion is based on whole year performance.

  3. Final results are final and cannot be reconsidered.

  4. Answer scripts will not be shown.

  5. Examination fees are included in Annual Fees.

H. INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

  • Maintain cleanliness and protect furniture.

  • No shouting or playing inside classrooms.

  • Class Leaders maintain discipline in teacher’s absence.

  • Ensure lights/fans are switched off when leaving.

    • Students are expected to uphold Christian values, discipline, and moral integrity at all times.
